Narayana Peesapaty

He is not an engineer, but is the man who invented edible cutlery—design story of a spoon that he feels can trigger a change in peoples’ consciousness, as this can be an alternative to disposable plastic or wood cutlery, and bamboo chopsticks. His company Bakeys Foods Private Limited develops innovative product-based solutions to growing environmental problems. This set of spoons is one of them. Peesapaty, who was formerly a researcher with ICRISAT (The International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics), holds a BSC (Hons) in Chemistry from Osmania University and MBA from IIFM- Bhopal. In the past he has worked as Associate Research Director at AC Neilsen ORG-Marg; Senior Scientific Officer with International Water Management Institute (IWMI); has researched on the nexus between energy and groundwater; published several policy and research papers on groundwater; and has undertaken over 50 consulting assignments related to agriculture with Agri-based industries, forestry and forest-based cottage industries, rural development, and renewable energy technologies.
