CODE is an International Design Conference organised by School of Fashion & Design at GD Goenka University. The conference will have talks by leading thinkers and masters in the field of design and sustainability. The 2018 edition of the conference themed Waste as Resource, by Design aims to bring together stakeholders for the purpose of creating a platform for sharing, discussing, and synergizing on ways that waste be eliminated through our understanding, agreements, and actions. This includes members of the design community, the civil society, individuals and organisations working in this area, think-tanks, academic institutions, industries and corporates, and the concerned governmental departments.
Nature has no concept of waste. Outputs from each and every part of the complex natural system serve as a resource for another. Waste is a unique characteristic of human enterprise, and stems from the limitations in our understanding of the inseparable interconnections between our actions and their impact. ‘GD Goenka University School of Fashion & Design’s annual conference ‘CODE’, explores the role of design as a catalyst and partner to approach the issues of turning waste into resource—whether it is from the perspective of resources, processes, or energy.
